Report for Calne and Blackland Parish
APCM April 2014
Representatives for Church of England on this group are Clergy and three lay representatives. At APCM in 2013, lay representatives were confirmed as Morcia Booton, Kathryn Miller and one vacancy (Bob to seek representative).
As usual four meetings were scheduled for 2013/14 as listed below. At APCM 2013 the future of the Partnership was in doubt because no one had been found to take on the role of Secretary. At the April meeting, Lynda Bosworth (from Baptist Church) was appointed as Secretary so Partnership is still in operation.
We were represented as follows:
Apr 2013 - BK, KM (MB stood down)
Jun 2013 – no CofE rep (BK sabbatical, KM governors meeting clash)
No resolutions were made at this meeting because it was not quorate without a CofE representative (clergy rep had urgent parish requirement)
Oct 2013 – EP, MB (KM absent on pilgrimage to Holy Land)
Jan 2014 – EP, MB, KM
The current Chairman is Sam King from Baptist Church. Jan Darts and Lynda Bosworth continue as Treasurer and Secretary. There are several vacancies for representatives from other churches.
The partnership discusses and supports progress of local initiatives such as Open Blue Bus, Food Bank and Doorway and other sources for ecumenical publicity or community action including Calne Springs Website and Heart for Calne.
Wiltshire Churches Together continues to publicise ecumenical events arranged locally. The contribution requested to support WCT for 2013/14 was £50.
Open Blue Bus did not operate during the Spring 2014 termtime because funding had not been found. Anyone interested in this work with Calne young people should talk to Kevin Wells or Partnership representatives. Kathryn recommends a visit to the Bus on a Friday evening.
Food Bank has an increasing use. The supplies are now stored at the Methodist Church where racking has been placed in a suitable locked room. Eleanor Bujalska and a new person from the Methodist Church now operate Calne Food Bank.
Bob raised discussion relating to the area to be included in Partnership. He is considering whether one of the lay representatives may come from among those who regularly attend one of the other Parishes within the Benefice, because the Parish of Calne and Blackland is now part of the Benefice of Marden Vale. No further mention was made of this discussion in June, October minutes.
Events publicised included:
Saturday 27th April - Gospel Generation Choir afternoon workshop 7.30 concert
